Supercell, developer of mobile game Clash Royale, is providing a $1 million USD prize pool for the first ever official tournament for the game, in a bid to find the best Clash Royale player in the world. The spring season kicks off in just over a week, on May 11, with open play tournaments, and you just have to have hit level 8 to enter, with Supercell claiming that low entry requirement makes it the "most accessible esports event in existence."
One million players are able to enter the open play stages, with thousands able to progress to the bracket stage. The month of June will see the final eight players fight it out to see who makes it to the Spring Finals, while the end of 2017 will see qualifying players participate in the Global Finals in London.
Around a month ago, Clash Royale surprisingly won the esports audience award at the video game BAFTAs, somehow beating out enormous titles like CS:GO, Overwatch, and League of Legends, despite not having any official tournaments at the time. The award was voted for by fans which shows just how popular the mobile game is, so while there's a million places in this tournament, you'll want to secure your entry here on the official Clash Royale site as soon as possible. Are you going to enter? How do you think it'll fare as an esports title? Let us know!
